エッチ BIO-OXIDATIVE THERAPIES
INTRODUCTION

Bio-oxidative therapies involve various methods which expose body tissues to high levels of oxygen or other oxidizing stimuli (such as UV light) for brief periods of time エッチfollowed by an adaptation period to allow for full recovery from the oxidative stress. A common example of a simple bio-oxidative therapy is aerobic exercise. As we all know, aerobic exercise involves exposing the body to high levels of oxygen for a short interval followed by rest. During the exercise session, the body is exposed to tremendous stress (oxidation) and tissue breakdown occurs. During the rest period which follows, an adaptation process takes place in which the body re-builds stronger than it was prior to the exercise session. The oxidative stress which occurs during exercise stimulates the production of the body's own antioxidant enzymes. It is well-known that higher levels of antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase) are present in the body for several days after each aerobic exercise session. Thus, even though aerobic exercise causes free radical damage (oxidation) for a short period of time, the body benefits from this stress, and grows stronger as long as the exercise is not too severe or too prolonged.

In a clinical setting, several other bio-oxidative therapies have been developed to take advantage of these and other important principles. Such therapies include:

  • ultraviolet (photo-oxidative) blood irradiation therapy

  • intravenous hydrogen peroxide therapy

  • ozone therapy (external applications as well as rectal or intravenous)

  • hyperbaric oxygen therapy

All of these therapies involve the principle of applying a brief oxidative stress to the body or a portion of blood. This is followed by a rest interval in which the body undergoes adaptive changes and the body's antioxidant defenses are markedly improved. Most, if not all, chronic illnesses result, at least in part, from excessive non-stop free radical damage. エッチBy bolstering antioxidant defenses, bio-oxidative therapies can bring about a remarkable improvement in the body's ability to cope with excessive free radicals and this antioxidant protection translates into better health.

PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH AND BIO-OXIDATIVE THERAPIES

Healthy cells have a remarkable ability to resist free radical damage. It has been estimated, in fact, that the average cell must sustain several hundred thousand "hits" from free radicals every day. Healthy cells are able to produce adequate amounts of antioxidant enzymes to protect themselves against this onslaught. Healthy cells are also able to increase their production of these antioxidant enzymes when higher levels of free radicals are encountered.

Highly unhealthy cells, on the other hand, lack the ability to withstand free radical attack (oxidation). They are simply unable to produce adequate amounts of antioxidant enzymes, especially when bombarded by very high levels of free radicals. For example, cancer cells, although growing and reproducing wildly, are unable to withstand oxidation like normal cells and often die if excessive free radical damage occurs. In fact, it is this weakness that is exploited by a healthy immune system when the white blood cells encounter cancer cells. Upon detecting a cancer cell, the white blood cells produce hydrogen peroxide in a "respiratory burst". This burst of hydrogen peroxide kills the cancer cell while surrounding healthy cells are unharmed. This is happening hundreds of times per minute right now on the inside of your body!

In good health, the immune system is highly vigilant and it quickly eliminates all cancerous cells, as well as all other worn out and sickly cells. This vital process, known as programmed cell death or apoptosis, is critical in the maintenance of good health. If apoptosis is occurring too slowly, a high population of worn out, sickly cells accumulates within the blood and most other organs. This high population of sick cells may be one of the most important features of chronic illness. エッチBio-oxidative therapies may assist the immune system by eliminating sickly, infected, weakened or cancerous cells. Once these sick cells are out of the way, new healthy cells then take their place and organ function improves.優良エッチ

STEALTH PATHOGENS AND BIO-OXIDATIVE THERAPIES

With the ever-increasing sophistication of our tools to look at the microscopic world inside the body, it is becoming clear that our old enemies, the microbes, have not gone away during this era of antibiotics. In fact, chronic infection may play a significant role in many (or perhaps even all) chronic illness. With the advent of the Nobel Prize technology, PCR or polymerase chain reaction testing, tiny amounts of virus or bacteria can be accurately detected and quantified in blood or tissues. With this new technology has come the striking revelation that certain viruses or bacteria are present in high numbers in the blood or tissues of people with many chronic illnesses. For example, atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) may be partly related to a persistent infection with a bacteria known as chlamydia. Fluid from the joints of those with rheumatoid arthritis may contain high amounts of a bacteria called mycoplasma. Chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. may be associated with several possible viruses or bacteria. AIDS and Hepatitis C are both associated with a persistent viral infection eventually resulting in serious illness or death. Numerous other examples illustrate how certain microbes evade the immune system and take up permanent residence in the body -- to the detriment of the owner of that body! These illusive viruses or bacteria are referred to as エッチ stealth pathogens".優良エッチ Like the Stealth Bomber which evades detection by enemy radar, these stealth pathogens evade detection by the immune system. Alternatively, some of these organisms may take advantage of an immune system which is weakened in some subtle way (such as that which results from low grade, heavy metal toxicity) and is thus unable to eradicate the offending invader.

Bio-oxidative therapies are being shown to have a significant impact upon stealth pathogens. Ultraviolet (photo-oxidative) blood irradiation therapy in particular appears to hold the greatest promise in killing stealth pathogens of many types. The rapid and effective elimination of stealth pathogens probably explains why so many people have such a rapid and remarkable benefit from this fascinating therapy.

Bio-oxidative therapies work against infection by stimulating the release of powerful natural immune modulators from certain white blood cells. There are several known immune modulators which, if released by white blood cells, will put the whole immune system into a state of intense alert and the immune system is then enabled to rapidly clear away infection. In addition, most bacteria and viruses have very little resistance to oxidative stress. When bio-oxidative therapies are administered, there may be a rapid and massive killing of stealth pathogens by direct oxidative injury to the offending microbes.

All in all, bio-oxidative therapies, when skillfully applied by a highly trained physician, work in a very complementary fashion to other immune stimulating therapies such as chelation therapy, heavy metal detoxification, nutritional therapy or functional medicine detoxification.
